New 2008 ACCP Guidelines
On June 24, 2008, the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) released new evidence-based guidelines for the treatment of acute proximal DVT.
- Pharmacomechanical interventions have, for the first time, been included in these guidelines.
- "In selected patients...we suggest that catheter-directed thrombolysis may be used to reduce acute symptoms and post-thrombotic morbidity...We suggest pharmacomechanical thrombolysis...in preference to CDT alone to shorten treatment time."1
